In reply to comment number 6: Excuse me? My boyfriend knows me well enough to understand that I don't need or want overly sappy romantic gestures. Hell, if your girlfriend or wife LIKES those kinds of things, then go for it. I'm just saying not to assume that these are the things that every woman wants. Base your gifts and gestures on what you know she'd like, not some cliche nonsense. And for the record, I appreciate everything my boyfriend does for me.

Here's one thing we do that I really love, and that I think is a nice tradition: Storytime. It's not just for kids anymore. We both love books, and so we make sure to take some time out of our schedules to read a chapter of a book that we like to each other (either in person or over the phone) before we go to bed. I guess that could kind of go along the lines of #51.

Great list. I've got one more. Organise her a day at the spa with her girlfriends and leave her there - go to the pub and read the paper all day. That way she gets some quality "her" time and you get some quality "cave" time. Then meet up at the end of the day and enjoy her telling you about her day. Perfect.

Oh yes, and I think marissa is pretty miserable if she thinks the list is crap - no doubt she would enjoy stamping all over her man's efforts in a bid to feel superior. Bless.

Uh.... I'm a girl, and I pretty much think that most of this list is cheesy crap. I guess there are some good ideas on here. Here are the ones that I would personally appreciate: 4 (except you'd have to MAKE the cake. Store-bought cake loses), 6, 7, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28 (I really kind of like the tree idea, except make sure it's not just for her, make sure the sign says that it's a symbol for BOTH of you and what you share together), 30, 32, 36, 41, 50 (I will never be disappointed with chocolate), and 51 (always important. Gifts and thoughtfulness mean SOOO much more when they're unexpected).

Ideas that I would roll my eyes at and quite possibly break up with the guy the next day: 10, 14, 17 (Valentine's Day is NOT a time for alarm clocks), 34, 35, 39, 45, 46 (if a guy called me that much, I'd think he was a co-dependent freak), 48.
